Executive coaching is confidential, creating a safe environment for honest discussion and personal development. We will always agree appropriate feedback arrangements with your organisation before coaching begins.

Generally, coaching is confidential unless there is an extreme need-to-know situation.

Executive coaching can be highly effective in helping managers and senior leaders overcome presentation and public speaking anxiety. Every individual is different, so we can’t guarantee a specific outcome or timeframe. Our coaches work to understand the underlying causes of the anxiety and tailor the coaching accordingly. Many participants notice a significant improvement in their confidence and communication after several coaching sessions, and we’ll discuss realistic expectations during our initial consultation.

Before coaching begins, we’ll agree two or three clear development objectives with the participant and, where appropriate, their organisation. Each coaching session provides a confidential space to explore challenges, develop practical strategies and agree actions before the next session. Between sessions, participants are encouraged to apply what they’ve learned and complete agreed actions to reinforce progress.

Yes. Executive coaching is most effective when participants put what they’ve learned into practice between sessions. Like learning a musical instrument, regular practice and reflection help reinforce new skills and behaviours. Coaches will agree practical actions tailored to each participant, which may include background reading, trying new approaches, or reflecting on key conversations and decisions before the next session.

Yes. All Protostar executive coaches are members of the Association for Coaching and hold either a recognised postgraduate coaching qualification or professional coaching certification gained through extensive coaching practice and experience.

Yes. In fact, we often begin an executive coaching programme with a 360-degree feedback assessment. This helps ensure the coaching objectives are based on evidence rather than assumptions, giving both the participant and the organisation a clear understanding of existing strengths, development opportunities and how the individual is perceived by colleagues. Coaching can then focus on the areas that will have the greatest impact.

Organisations invest in executive coaching for many reasons. Common situations include supporting newly promoted managers, preparing senior leaders for greater responsibility, developing strategic thinking, improving confidence and communication, overcoming presentation anxiety, or helping leaders navigate organisational change. Executive coaching can also provide targeted support following a 360-degree feedback programme, helping participants turn feedback into practical, lasting behavioural change.

Success is measured against the objectives agreed at the start of the coaching programme. Depending on those objectives, this may include increased confidence, improved communication, stronger leadership capability, greater strategic thinking or behavioural changes observed by colleagues and managers. Where appropriate, organisations may also choose to repeat a 360-degree feedback assessment to measure progress and identify further development opportunities.

The cost of executive coaching depends on several factors, including the number of coaching sessions, the seniority of the participant, whether coaching is delivered online or in person, and whether it forms part of a wider leadership development programme. We’ll be happy to discuss your objectives and provide a tailored quotation based on your organisation’s requirements. Short executive coaching programmes start at £1500+VAT
